programs. He has co-authored several technical articles and is a co-inventor for seven patents. Charlie is fluent in English, Spanish, and
conversational Portuguese.
Dwight D. Back, Ph.D.
Dr. Back received his bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Dayton, Ohio, in 1984, and his master’s and
doctorate degrees from the University of Notre Dame in 1986 and 1989, respectively. Dr. Back’s Ph.D. dissertation was in the area of heat
transfer, mass transfer, reaction kinetics, and fluid mechanics. He has been a key innovator for small and large companies in the private
and public sectors, including EG&G and Monsanto (Department of Energy contractors), Cordis Corporation (a medical device franchise of
Johnson & Johnson), and Mainstream Engineering Corporation, and is currently a consultant to the medical device and biofuels industries.
Over the past 22 years, Dr. Back has made numerous contributions to process, materials, and product development across a broad
spectrum of technology areas. He has published more than 100 technical articles and is inventor on 20 U.S. patents. He is a member of
the honorary engineering societies Tau Beta Pi and Sigma Xi, and a charter officer of the East-Central Florida AIChE section.
John Meyer
Mr. Meyer graduated with his BS degree in biology and environmental science in 1991 and obtained his master’s degree in environmental
science from Florida Institute of Technology in 1994. Mr. Meyer’s laboratory experience was first accrued by acting as a lead analytical
scientist for Brevard Teaching and Research Laboratory. From 1996 through 2007, Mr. Meyer served as Research Scientist at Mainstream
Engineering. In this position, Mr. Meyer accrued experience in fluorescent detection technologies, material science, carbon nanotube
technology and fabrication, electrochemical technologies, water chemistry, microbiological analysis, organic analysis, and computational
chemistry modeling. Since 2007, Mr. Meyer has served as technical lead for the Harris Corporation Materials and Processes Laboratory.
In this position, Mr. Meyer performs polymer analysis for a large number of Government programs with focus on identifying and assessing
epoxy, urethane, silicone, and other polymers for space and military programs. Mr. Meyer has over 15 years of laboratory experience, and
has made contributions to chemical analytical science, fluorescent detection technologies, material science, polymer analysis, and process
development for a very wide array of private and Government customers. Mr. Meyer has joined BioGreen Engineering as a materials
scientist and continues to cultivate expertise in material detection and polymer science.
Maria Speder
Ms. Speder has over 20 years of analytical, operational, and writing experience. She specializes in environmental research and analysis
and is an expert in writing project proposals and PDDs. Ms. Speder is the regulatory analytical expert at BioGreen Engineering. In this
capacity, she assists companies involved in GHG emission reduction and renewable energy projects in applying the appropriate regulatory
mechanisms and compliance. Prior to BioGreen Ms. Speder worked with AgCert International and AES Climate Solutions. She gained a
vast amount of CDM and JI regulatory and methodological expertise while serving as a Senior Technical Writer and Climate Change
Regulatory Analysis Manager. While at AgCert International and AES Climate Solutions, Ms. Speder wrote over 120 PDDs and guided
those projects through the validation and registration processes. Of the PDDs written, 121 have been registered as CDM projects to date.
She has also co-authored several published technical articles.
Nidal Samad
Nidal joined BioGreen Engineering as a senior research engineer in 2011. His previous years of experience spanned product and process
development, project management, technology testing and problem solving in various chemical waste and environmental applications.
Nidal was the director of research and development and was an expert panel member for the development of testing protocol for NSF
International. He serves as an industrial advisory board member for the chemical engineering department at Florida Tech. During his
career, Nidal developed many various innovative methods and holds 22 patents most of which are related to the treatment of wastewater.
Mr. Samad holds a BS in Chemistry from the Lebanese University and BS and MS degrees in Chemical Engineering and Environmental
Science from the Florida Institute of Technology.
